Engineering Executive Council

Since 2019, I’ve been a member of the Engineering Executive Council. The AEC Council is an independent group that Autodesk facilitates. The AEC council is made up of groups in both North America and in Europe and includes both architects and engineers. My group includes some very high-profile people from structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and fabrication including:

  • Dave Bleimen, President of Rutherford + Chekene
  • Josh Getz, Director, Southland Industries
  • Sebastien Pare, Vice President, Canam Group
  • Susan Koenigs, Director of Digital Practices, AEI
  • Erleen Hatfield, CEO, The Hatfield Group
  • Alfonso Olivia, Director of LERA+, Leslie E. Robertson Associates
  • Paul McGilly, Associate Principal, BuroHappold Engineering
  • David Pikey, Vice President of Corporate Technology, The Hill Group
  • Jeremy Woodgate, Senior Vice President, SSOE

ACTIONS

  • Created LinkedIn Group Site
In support of the release of the items mentioned below, I created the LinkedIn Group for the whole AEC Group. I’d like to note that my talented brother Kurtis Dane created the logo and header images pro bono. Thanks!
  • “Passing the Baton” Whitepaper
I collaborated on the first whitepaper from the North America Engineering Executive Council (EXC) “Passing the Baton.

Current conditions in AEC present an unprecedented opportunity for the emergence of a more streamlined and efficient project delivery model – where project owners in particular stand to benefit from increased cost predictability, shortened project timelines, and reduced waste along the supply chain.

In “Passing the Baton,” the North America EXC lays out the challenges we’re facing as an industry and offers both near and long-term solutions that AEC professionals can implement around people, processes, and technology.

  • Autodesk University 2019 Class
I facilitated a class called “Collaborative Delivery between Design and Fabrication” at Autodesk University 2019 in Las Vegas. The session was designed to engage the stakeholders both upstream of design and downstream of design (owners) to have a conversation about how to improve the AEC delivery workflow.
