TT defense at IAVM Conference

I had the opportunity to lead the development of Thornton Tomasetti’s presence at the 2017 International Association of Venue Managers in Nashville Tennessee. TT was in the process of expanding our security offerings to include broader threat and vulnerability assessments (TVRA) as well as additional security offerings beyond blast protection to include access control, operational response planning, cyber security, and training.

I ended up having lots of responsibility for the attendance at the event including:

  • designing the booth imagery and messaging
  • designing some of the brochures for the offering
  • creating the slide deck/video loop that was displayed in the booth
  • coordinating (and doing) the setup as well as the takedown of the booth itself
  • manning the booth during core exhibit hall hours (alongside an impressive collection of TT leadership colleagues)

This was a great experience for me both on the marketing front and the conference attendance/management side. I’ve attended lots of conferences and generally avoid the exhibit halls but, after realizing how much time and money goes into getting a (fairly simple) space setup, I will always at least give the exhibit halls a single pass.
