Since 2018, I have been a member of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Digital Design Committee. This committee was formerly known as the SEI BIM Committee and is made up of Digital Design leaders from structural engineering firms of various sizes across the United States. The committee is focused on fostering conversations on the impact of Digital Design tools on structural engineering practitioners.
Membership on this committee has given me the chance to work on several projects:
- Structures Congress 2019
- “BIM Contracts: Risky or Risk Management” – Panelist
- “Business of BIM Debate” – Moderator
- Structures Congress 2021 (Virtual)
- Publication in STRUCTURE Magazine with Co-chair Mike Bolduc
In addition, I have worked with the Co-Chairs of the committee to:
- Formalize the committee documentation in a Google Drive collection. This will ease leadership transition, on-boarding, and formalize the knowledge and assets of the committee.
- Update the SEIBIM.org website to align with the Digital Design branding, simplify and update content.
